The best things to do in Phuket, Thailand
Grand Temples
Wat Chalong is where you'll find the largest Buddhist temple on the island. Located on your way into town from the pier, it's likely one of the first temples you'll visit. You'll find that the grounds are beautifully landscaped and that there's a unique mix of modern architectural design blended with traditional temple features such as stone steps leading up to an entrance door flanked by two large statues and what seems like every color imaginable used in decorating both inside and out.
Surfing
There are some perfect beaches for surfing on the island and also some of the most expensive condos. Perfect for people looking for a combination of luxury and adventure.
Cocktails and nightlife
Bangkok has more going on when it comes to nightlife and cocktails, but if you are staying in or near the South of Phuket and are looking for a relaxed evening with some great local wines or a craft beer then Aoy Mon should be your first port of call. Aoy Mon sits on Patong Beach and boasts some great panoramic views of the coast as well as our one year-old son's favourite place - a big blue pool!
Eco Tourism
Phuket is an island off the southeast coast of Thailand. This amazing tropical destination has a rich cultural history and an unmatched natural beauty that makes it perfect for those who are seeking a relaxing vacation.
Historic Districts
Waterfalls
There are many beautiful waterfalls throughout the island but there is a two main places that you can go see them. Tham-sia Waterfall is a short hike and will lead you past some very scenic jungle on your way to a gorgeous waterfall. Along the trail you will be able to see several other smaller waterfalls as well.
Scuba Diving
Diving is one of the coolest ways to see some of the marine life here. Dive with whalesharks and dolphins and see some of the most awe-inspiring shipwrecks you will ever see. The visibility on this dive is superb.
Hot Springs
Dating back to the 2nd century BC, this place is said to be where Theravada Buddhism originated. Visitors can enjoy world-class Thai cuisine, ancient ruins, and a variety of outdoor activities. One not-to-miss activity for locals and tourists alike is a relaxing day at one of these breathtaking hot springs.
Hot Air Balloon Rides
There are many places around the world that offer balloon rides for tourists, but few have the same impressive skyline and experience as in Phuket. Get up-close and personal with stunning views of Phi Phi Island and beyond for one unforgettable experience. When you have completed your visit on the ground, there is no better way to see Phuket from above than by taking a hot air balloon ride!
Snorkeling
One of the most popular activities in this area is snorkeling. This can be done by many people of all skill levels and ages. You will explore the water and see sea creatures such as seahorses, octopuses, starfish, sea urchins and a wide variety of brightly colored fish. You will even see live coral that has been damaged but still survives. The water here is clean so it is safe for you to explore close up on both shallow and deep levels.
