1) Grand Canyon

-The Grand Canyon is an important tourist destination in Arizona, and has been drawing millions of visitors each year for over 100 years. At 277 miles long, 18 miles wide, and 1 mile deep, it is the grandest natural attraction in the United States. The canyon walls themselves are composed of multicolored layers of sedimentary rock including limestone, sandstone, shale and other materials deposited between 200 million and 60 million years ago.

2) Hoover Dam

Ranked as one of the top five largest public works projects in US history, Hoover Dam was completed and opened for use in 1935. More than 18,000 workers worked on the dam at its peak, but now only 84 permanent employees are needed for daily operations. The Hoover Dam has two main turbines with blades that are higher than the Statue of Liberty! Check out these other incredible facts about this legendary man-made marvel.

3) The Strip

What kind of destination would Las Vegas be without its most iconic attraction? Las Vegas Boulevard is known internationally as the Strip. Spanning 4 miles (6.4 km) and home to 15 world-famous resorts, The Strip features fantastic casinos, immersive theme parks, lively theatres and pretty much anything else your heart desires.

4) Valley of Fire State Park

Take in the beautiful sight of red, pink, and tan sandstone rock formations before hiking up on the ridge for an incredible view. Then head over to Panorama Point for a 360-degree panoramic view of Las Vegas. Just be warned: you might want to schedule your trip in April so you can check out the International Cherry Blossom Festival at UNLV too!

5) Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

A jewel hidden at the edge of the Mojave Desert, Red Rock Canyon is a 13,000-acre national conservation area with 275 miles of hiking trails and one breathtaking overlook after another.

The sunset over these red rocks is unmatched anywhere else in the world.

A favorite stop on this scenic drive for travelers visiting from colder climates is the Bristlecone Pine Forest, where some of the oldest living trees on earth grow at temperatures up to 100 degrees warmer than their counterparts higher up in elevation.
